It’s time to get to know the faces behind New Talent Fashion – a family of passionate and positive people, here to recognise, empower and showcase new talent.
This time, we spoke to Milly, our Founder CEO, Siobhan Clare O’Donnell’s Personal Assistant.
What does an average day working at NTF look like for you?
My average day at NTF can change from day to day with a variety of different tasks, this is something I enjoy as it keeps every day exciting and I’m constantly learning. I love being able to work on different projects – whether it’s helping organise meetings for the team, carrying out research or getting in touch with people in the industry. At the moment, I’m helping on all-things Northern Fashion Week which is going to be a really exciting event, as well as working closely with Siobhan to arrange her weekly plans.
Tell us about your first job in the fashion industry…
My first job in the fashion industry which gave me a real taste of working with a brand was when I interned with Shrimps. Helping out with a sample sale was something I felt was not only exciting but arranging the garments, organising the stock, giving styling advice and talking to customers left me feeling very excited to be a part of the industry. Since then I have enjoyed working on live projects at university with brands such as Lazy Oaf and AllSaints, as well as styling and assisting on different photoshoots.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I always find that when I go somewhere new or travel, I feel so inspired – seeing how people live their daily lives in different places and the changes in culture abroad. I love going to different galleries and restaurants when I’m away and love people watching. Also getting outside and being in nature inspires me, ensuring I live in the moment.
Our two subscription services, Student Hub – by NTF and NTF Exclusive, are full of innovative and inspiring content – what do you love most about the memberships?
I think the memberships are such a great way to offer inspiring and innovative content in a way that doesn’t feel overwhelming. I love that the Wellness Centre is an area in NTF Exclusive, as I feel this is so important and should always be a valued priority. NTF can help in so many different ways by offering a range of services and allow you to feel empowered, motivated and supported.
What are you looking forward to this year, for NTF?
I’m very excited for Northern Fashion Week taking place in July. I’m so happy to be a part of it so far and just seeing it grow and develop into what will be an amazing experience for everyone involved!
Do you have any advice for our community looking for a role in the industry?
Don’t give up, be open-minded, enjoy the journey. Everything happens for a reason and the right role won’t pass you by.
