It’s time to get to know the faces behind New Talent Fashion – a family of passionate and positive people, here to recognise, empower and showcase new talent.
This time, we spoke to David, Digital Consultant/Web Developer here at NTF, to find out his career history, inspirations and stellar advice for those entering the industry.
What does an average day working at NTF look like for you?
As I look after the websites/digital side of things, every day is different for me with NTF. I may be working on updating content, branding or layout – including helping the team bring their designs to life on the websites – or keeping the websites up to date, secure, and so on.
Tell us about your first job in the tech industry…
It was kind of an accident really, through my first start-up nearly 20 years ago. I needed a website and, as I was bootstrapping, decided to build it myself. I enjoyed it so much that I started to learn more about coding etc. alongside my ‘day job’ of running a business. I later took a course and went from there.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I very much enjoy looking at design sites like Behance or Dribbble. Some of the designs on these sites are amazing and very inspirational. There’s a lot of clever, creative people out there! Along with coding sites and similar, these inspire me to constantly improve my game and try out new things in web design and development.
Our two subscription services, Student Hub – by NTF and NTF Exclusive, are full of innovative and inspiring content – what do you love most about the memberships?
I like the way it’s easy to use (I hope haha!) and the fact that you can transition easily from student to professional and get the support you need in the fashion industry. I think, going back to the previous question, what NTF are doing for this industry is quite inspiring.
What are you looking forward to this year, for NTF?
I’ve been working with NTF for a long time now and it’s amazing how far they’ve come in that time, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how much they grow this year.
Do you have any advice for our members looking for a role in the tech industry?
As cliché as it may sound, I would say have patience, believe in yourself and never stop learning.
